Description
Our Pink Buffalo spore syringe contains 10 ml of spore solution with visible clouds of viable Psilocybe cubensis spores. Each syringe is prepared under sterile conditions and guaranteed free from contamination.
Unlike an isolated liquid culture, a spore syringe contains a broad genetic pool. As a result, it makes an excellent starting point for growers who want to explore Pink Buffalo genetics, select their own cultures, or simply enjoy the natural variation that can occur between different phenotypes.
Pink Buffalo appearance
Pink Buffalo is a classic Southeast Asian Psilocybe cubensis variety from Thailand. Young fruit bodies develop grayish gills that gradually darken as they mature.
As with other multispore P. cubensis cultures, individual Pink Buffalo cultures can express natural variation in cap shape, coloration, proportions, and overall fruit development. Additionally, handling or damaging the tissue can cause blue-green bruising.
Pink Buffalo growth characteristics
Pink Buffalo has been observed to colonize quickly and shows a preference for higher temperatures, characteristics that fit well with its subtropical Thai origin.
Its natural habitat includes bovine and equine dung as well as enriched soils. Combined with its Southeast Asian background, these characteristics make Pink Buffalo an interesting genetic line for growers who want to explore geographically distinct P. cubensis varieties.
Because this syringe contains a multispore population rather than an isolated culture, individual cultures can still differ in their growth and fruit development. Therefore, starting from spores provides an opportunity to select Pink Buffalo phenotypes with particularly desirable characteristics.
What makes Pink Buffalo unique?
Pink Buffalo, also known as Thai Pink Buffalo, is a Thai Psilocybe cubensis strain with a history dating back to around 2000. The original collection is credited to Milo Zverino, making it one of the geographically identifiable Southeast Asian genetic lines that have circulated for more than two decades.
The unusual name refers to pink water buffalo, which occasionally occur despite water buffalo normally having gray coloration. A popular story suggests that the original mushrooms were collected from the dung of a pink buffalo. However, this part of the strain’s history has never been confirmed.
Instead, Pink Buffalo’s documented Thai origin, subtropical background, fast colonization, and preference for warmer temperatures provide a more reliable picture of what distinguishes this genetic line.
For growers starting from spores, its broad multispore genetic pool also provides an opportunity to explore different expressions of this classic Thai P. cubensis lineage.

Safety precautions and handling
When handling the Pink Buffalo spore syringe, it is crucial to follow proper safety precautions to avoid contamination and ensure a successful growth process. Here are some general guidelines to keep in mind:
- Always handle the syringe in a clean and sterile environment.
- Wear powder-free nitrile gloves and a face mask to prevent contamination.
- Minimize airflow in your workplace.
- Avoid touching the needle or the spore solution directly to maintain sterility.
- Store the syringe in a refrigerator at 3-5°C to prolong its shelf life. Use the syringe within 3 months after reception.
